Details, Details

Here is a sneak peak at a few images from the wedding of Chris and Casey Walker, (which was an absolute blast, by the way).

The ceremony and reception were both held at Los Encinos Hill Country Resort, which is gorgeous inside and out. I had a very easy job capturing the emotion of the day, but those shots will be posted later.

This is the towering wedding cake. Yummy!

And this little banner was on the grooms cake.

And check out the table decorations. Nothing was overlooked, and the details were darling.

The ceremony was outside, and the most dreaded thing of all outdoor weddings occurred, it rained during the ceremony! I think another bride and groom would have been flustered, disappointed and upset, but not Chris and Casey. The minister (who happens to be Casey's brother, Wayne Urbanowski) spoke of the significance of the cleansing water, and the light sprinkle was really just perfect.

I'll post more as I get them edited!

Los Encinos Hill Country Resort, Boerne TX

I'm gearing up for what I think will be a gorgeous wedding this weekend. It will be at Los Encinos Hill Country Resort in Boerne, a spot I just love and can't wait to shoot. Another reason I'm looking forward to it is because the bride, Casey, is just the most fantastic person. I have the feeling that everyone there will be relaxed and ready to have a good time, and hopefully I can capture some of the emotion of the day for their album.

I should be able to post some of the highlight shots here by Sunday night, and I hope to have all of the images posted online within a week.

I've been doing a pretty good job of remembering to post something each day, although I was almost in bed before I remembered this time. The contest is off for Saturday, though. I have a T-Ball team photo shoot in the morning, then two games to attend, and finally the wedding.

No time for idle gossip on that day, I'm afraid!

Buffalo Valley Youth Association T-Ball

We are in the middle of T-Ball mania at my house. We have games this week every night from Wednesday through Friday, and two on Saturday. How am I supposed to keep up with washing their uniforms that often? How are we ever supposed to eat dinner together? How on EARTH can I possibly sit through that many T-Ball games? I DON'T EVEN LIKE SPORTS!!!

The only thing good is that the boys look so adorable in their uniforms. Oh, and I really like yelling and cheering, so at least I get to do that (IF I happen to be looking when my child is out on the field. Half of the time, I miss it because I'm distracted).

See ya at the Ball field!

I'm winding up what has been one of the best weekends I've had in a looong time. It was relaxing and slow paced and exactly what I needed.

I even had the unexpected opportunity to photograph one of my fav clients. Here are the shots that I like, but we plan to reshoot in a few days so that I can give it another try.

Isn't she just a doll?!

Today is Earth Day!

I planned to write today about the things we can do to help make the world a better place, but my friend Gina sent an email that says it all:

"Hey Friends and Family! I just wanted to remind everyone that THIS Sunday is Earth day!

Please try to change at least ONE thing to help leave a better earth for your Wonderful children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Remember your children and grandchildren will LOVE their own children and grandchildren as much as you LOVE yours!!!! Please help make a difference!! J Let’s leave our planet earth a better place!

Here are some ideas…………..

Just change ONE light bulb to an eco friendly one – you can get them at Home depot

Use less napkins

Use recycled paper towels

START RECYCLING – Just call 311 and get them to deliver your recycling bin today!! It’s easier than you think!

Use only ONE glass a day over and over again!

UN-plug your toaster, cell phone recharger, blow dryer etc when you are not using it!

Wait to do laundry until you have a full load, that goes for the dishes as well!

Use cold water instead of HOT……

Take a shorter shower,,,

Always turn the water off when you’re shaving and brushing your teeth!

Have a wonderful day! Love, ~Gina"

My big change will start tomorrow. I will walk my son to and from school from now on, instead of letting Chip drive him.

Thanks for the tips, Gina!

I'm Bored

I need something fun and exciting to happen. This time of year is nice, but I can't think of anything that I can really look forward to. Can someone plan a huge party and invite me? Or knock on my door with the Publishers Clearing House check? Anything besides the daily routine of cleaning, cooking and bathing 3 dirty kids.

Maybe I can think of some things to look forward to. Well, I have a fantastic wedding shoot next week. My oldest daughter is back on the cheer team that we both love so much and I'll get to see her improve by leaps and bounds (literally) in the coming months. Summer is on its way, and that means lazy days at the pool chatting with my friends while the kids play. I can also look forward to my hair growing out from this hideous cut.

For the immeditate future, though, I think the best thing to look forward to is getting off of this computer and spending some time with the two littles ones I still have at home. See ya!

Planet Earth 2007

I wrote an entry about global warming the other day, but took it down because it was a little too serious for my blog. I'm putting it back up because there will be a special on ABC Friday night about it (glogal warming, not my blog!!) and I plan to watch it. Hope you do, too!

No post yesterday!

It only took one day for me to miss a post, and I've been caught by April Ferrell. Way to go, April! April will get a $4 gift certificate to use at Baskin Robbins. Hopefully it will be warm enough for ice cream soon!

It just so happens that April's kids were my most recent clients. We took advantage of an enormous field of Bluebonnets just up the street. This is the second time this season that I've tried to get spring-time images on a freezing day, and I don't want to try it again. Little ones just can't look care-free and happy when they are shivering, but they do look really cute when they snuggle up!

One a Day

I'd like to step up my blogging efforts by posting a lot more often, but man is it hard to do! A blog a day is my goal. How 'bout another contest to give me some motivation?

I will post every day. If I miss a day, the first person to email me will get a prize. Now, what should the prize be? I guess I'll put that in another post! Gotta stretch these babies out a little, ya know.

Global Warming

We've been hearing about global warming for a while now. It was easy to dismiss at first, it seemed to be simple speculation that the earth is warming, and I found it easy to believe those who said that things weren't that bad, that the recent crazy weather was part of a natural cycle of things.

I'm not convinced of that anymore.

Recently, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a statement, several in fact, which first detailed that Global Warming is truly occurring, what the effects will be on a regional basis, and what we can do about it. There were apparently days of discussion in which government heads of state disagreed with the language used, and the contributing scientists had to "water-down" the report so that it wasn't as alarming.

Here is an excerpt of what the effects will be, keep in mind that this is the the "watered-down version":

"North America will experience more severe storms with human and economic loss, and cultural and social disruptions. It can expect more hurricanes, floods, droughts, heat waves and wildfires. Coasts will be swamped by rising sea levels. In the short term, crop yields may increase by 5 percent to 20 percent from a longer growing season, but will plummet if temperatures rise by 7.2 degrees.

Africa will be hardest hit. By 2020, up to 250 million people are likely to be exposed to water shortages. In some countries, food production could fall by half, it said.

Parts of Asia are threatened with massive flooding and avalanches from melting Himalayan glaciers. Europe also will see its Alpine glaciers disappear. Australia's Great Barrier Reef will lose much of its coral to bleaching from even moderate increases in sea temperatures."

Read that first paragraph again slowly. Remember the devastation we all felt over the Tsunami, or the hurricane devastation is Mississippi and New Orleans? We will be getting a lot MORE of that.

It also states that we will start to see the effects of Global Warming in only a few decades. That means our kids will be the most affected. My daughter who dreams of traveling might be unable to ski the Swiss Alps because they are no longer covered in snow.

I don't see how we can let this happen. The point of the Panel, as far as I can tell, is to warn governments and society that the world is headed in the wrong direction, I but I believe they also think we can turn it around, that it might not be too late.

I'm going to focus my efforts in learning more about our Presidential candidates than I have in the past. I'm hoping that this issue is given the importance and gravity it deserves, and that we can confidently vote on a candidate who clearly supports the issue. At this point, I have no idea who that might be.

For me, all of the other issues pale in comparison to this one. We are talking about the EARTH, our homes, our families. Taxes, national health insurance, illegal immigrants, space exploration, all of these issues won't mean anything if we don't have somewhere to live.

According to the report, our use of fossil fuels is the main thing responsible for the warming. That means that we have to find other alternatives. The high cost of fuel, in my opinion, might be a blessing if it makes us drive less. I know I am affected the most when something hits my pocketbook, and I can't be the only penny pincher!

I no longer think that the predictions are being made by crazy scientists who are simply trying to get publicity or funding for more research. I do think it needs to be the number one issue in America and the world.

Are you as concerned as I am, or maybe you think it's just hype? I would love to hear some comments on this.
