Weimer Family: Mission Espada

It is always a welcome change for me when I get the opportunity to photograph families with teenagers. For some reason it seems that family shoots usually involve little ones, and though I often photograph teens, they are usually alone and celebrating a milestone such as graduation.

This past weekend, on an incredibly gorgeous Sunday afternoon, I spent a couple of hours with the Weimer family-Diana, Jim, K and C (sorry, I try not to pair kids names with faces here on my blog). I met Diana a few years ago when our daughters cheered on the same team. She and Jim have made it a family tradition to have pictures made in every state in which they have lived, and I was incredibly honored to take the pictures which will represent the time they have spent here in Texas.

I usually try to leave the choice of location to my clients, and in this case I think they made the perfect choice. Mission Espada is rustic, time-worn, and steeped in Texas history. The weathered walls of the 200 year old mission, along with 100 year old oaks, arched doorways and wooden doors, all combine to provide endless settings for dramatic images:

Thanks guys for hanging out and being such good sports about everything. You're the best!

Mandy and BJ: Married!

A few months ago, I shot the engagement session for Mandy and BJ, two of the most loving people that I've ever met. They have an almost palpable sense of respect and concern for each other, a quality that more often is found among people from an older generation. Not once did I hear him answer her in exasperation, or see her roll her eyes at one of his off-the-wall suggestions. It's like they live and breathe for each other.

It came as no surprise then, that their wedding was as calm and relaxed as could be. Mandy was perfectly serene, and BJ simply radiated confidence. If there was stress or discord behind the scenes, it certainly didn't show. The day unfolded beautifully, and I was extremly honored to capture it for them.

Guys, I know that you are enjoying your honeymoon right now, but when you return I hope you enjoy this little peek at your day:

What I Did in Vegas

So, lets see-the last time I posted was before my big Vegas trip. And yeah, it was a TRIP. Most of what happened there was completly illegal, immoral and not something I can share, 'cuz you know what they say about "What happens in Vegas" so I'll just post the one or two innocent images that we took.

This one is safe-this is Gina and me on the plane, ready for our adventure:

And here we are at a club called Pure. I love how my head looks like its spit open at the top. That is actually how it felt the next morning:

I think I wore brown every single day. I really need some color in my wardrobe, and my life!

And here is Gina at our #1 favorite Vegas hotspot-the M&M store! See, we are really wild women:

Sorry that I can't post the really juicy ones, but at least I'm saving you from the endless pictures of us in front of every fountain and hotel on the strip. Beacuse that is what we REALLY did in Vegas. I swear.
