Trois Estate at Enchanted Rock

I was hired by my friend and mentor Jim Landers of Landers Photography, to be his second-shooter at a wedding on Saturday night. We drove up to Fredricksbug, and then past it, all the way to Enchanted Rock. The wedding was taking place at this fantastic little hidden village called The Trois Estate (Troise rhymes with Joyce, for those of you that care about such things!), which is 1/2 mile from the entrance to Enchanted Rock.

I can't begin to describe the uniqueness of it. It is a magical little spot, with a Bed and Breakfast, a cap gun museum, an Italian restaurant (reservations only), a chapel, an artisan gift shop, a spa...and so much more!

The best feature of all is the grotto, a cave with a heated pool running through it. The wedding ceremony actually ended there. The guests had their candles lit by the bride and groom and then placed them into the water, where they gently floated together into a glowing pool of light. It was beautiful, touching and different from anything I've seen done at a wedding.

I had the chance to speak for a while with Rebecca Trois, who not only owns the property with her husband, but is also the chef (she also performed the wedding ceremony). She is exactly what you would expect a B&B host to be-super friendly, relaxed, and warm. She even put together a box of food for Jim and me to eat on our way home. I'm hoping to spend a weekend sometime in the not-too-distant future exploring everything the Trois Estate has to offer.

Another really cool thing that the bride and groom did-a preceremony photo session without allowing the groom to see the bride! The bride was in place on the gorgeous rooftop with Enchanted Rock in the distance, and the groom was led up by his groomsmen with his eyes covered by a bandanna. He then stood in place with his back to her, and she removed his bandanna. They posed for a dozen or so shots, then he walked away, all without looking at her. It was so cute and touching, and made some great images along with a great story to tell!
